About the Organization Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) has been providing caring, affordable, high‑quality health care and supportive services for more than 55 years, with a special commitment to uninsured, low‑income and medically underserved persons. FHCSD operates more than 90 sites across San Diego County, including primary care clinics, mental‑health facilities, rehab clinics, dental and vision centers, outpatient substance‑use programs, mobile units, urgent‑care centers, and a pharmacy. Over 227,000 patients are served annually, 91% of whom are low‑income and 29% uninsured. Job Overview Under the direction of the Clinic Director, the Associate Clinic Director (ACD) will support day‑to‑day administration and coordination of the clinic and/or specified department(s). The ACD will act as covering Director on site and off, ensure regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, CLIA, DHS licensing & certification, OSHA, etc.), meet growth, finance, and customer‑service targets, and manage staff development, training, and disciplinary actions. Responsibilities Support the Clinic Director in developing and maintaining community linkages and key community relationships to enhance the site’s ability to serve the local area. Identify opportunities to connect the local community to all appropriate FHCSD programmatic areas and collaborate with Patient Engagement staff. Ensure the site is compliant with applicable regulatory and organizational standards (Joint Commission, Licensing, VFC, OSHA, PCMH, FHCSD policies and procedures). Ensure staff complete all required training in a timely manner. Manage site finances in a fiscally responsible manner, including implementing annual contracts and grants, in collaboration with other FHCSD departments. Ensure the site is well maintained and compliant with FHCSD’s facilities policies. Lead the site in providing quality care to patients and coordinate services with Medical, Nursing, and Program Leadership. Interpret the role of health‑center services for patients, personnel, medical staff, volunteers, and the community at large. Build positive relationships, inspire others, prepare career development plans, retain an accountable workforce, coach and counsel staff, and administer appropriate disciplinary action. Participate in continuous improvement activities and deploy Lean tools (5S, A3) with measurable results. Ensure all new‑hire and annual trainings are completed on time. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements BA/BS in a related field or RN required. At least 3 years of managerial experience in the health‑care field, or a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of experience as a manager in the health‑care field. At least 3 years’ experience in progressively responsible positions in health‑care services, with preference for ambulatory medical clinics. Travel between sites and other locations required as an essential function; must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance. Acceptable driving record required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency. Reimbursement of mileage and other expenses governed by policy.
