Pharmacist-in-Charge / Pharmacy Manager ( Sterile Compounding Mandatory)

Job Description Job Description Our client is seeking an experienced, leadership-driven Pharmacist to serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and operational owner of the facility. This is an impactful role designed for a professional who can strictly uphold prescription-by-prescription quality standards while simultaneously scaling operations alongside executive leadership. Rather than a traditional "back-of-the-counter" role, the PIC will oversee the daily rhythm of the pharmacy-including verification, workflow design, staffing, training, and strict compliance. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to seamlessly transition between high-level strategic planning and hands-on clinical bench work when required. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this individual will have a true seat at the table in shaping the growth and operational reality of the business. Key Responsibilities: Pharmacy Operations, Patient Safety & Compliance: Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) of record for the Florida pharmacy permit, maintaining full accountability for licensure standing, meticulous recordkeeping, and Florida Board of Pharmacy compliance. Perform final verification on all compounded preparations, ensuring absolute accuracy regarding ingredients, calculations, beyond-use dating (BUD), labeling, and patient-specific documentation. Maintain rigorous compliance with USP , , and standards, applicable state/federal laws, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Own the master formula and batch documentation system, regularly reviewing and approving formulas, lot tracking, and quality control records. Foster a proactive culture of safety by conducting root-cause reviews of deviations, near-misses, or complaints, implementing permanent corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). People Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the pharmacy team, including sterile and non-sterile compounding technicians, support staff, and future intern pharmacists. Establish a high hiring bar, manage the interview process, and oversee onboarding to ensure new team members are safe and productive within their first 30 days. Manage scheduling, delegate workflows, and balance daily production loads to optimize efficiency and prevent burnout. Provide real-time, constructive feedback and document performance with clear care and directness. Identify rising internal talent and design career development pathways for technicians looking to specialize in advanced compounding or leadership roles. Strategic Partnership & Business Scale: Collaborate closely with the executive team on growth initiatives, including new product lines (peptides and sterile creams), multi-state licensure expansion, throughput optimization, and workflow redesign. Translate high-level executive vision into actionable, daily operating plans for the pharmacy floor, while synthesizing operational realities into clear feedback for leadership. Proactively identify bottlenecks and present data-driven solutions and operational proposals. Represent the pharmacy in cross-functional collaborations with patient services, sales, finance, and external prescribers. Clinical Partnership & Communication: Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for prescribers regarding formulation inquiries, therapeutic alternatives, and specialized clinical considerations. Support the internal patient services team with timely clinical insights, prescription clarifications, and issue escalations. Document clinical conversations and decisions with the discipline and thoroughness expected during regulatory audits. Qualifications Required: Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree from an accredited institution. Licensure: Active, unrestricted Florida Pharmacist license in good standing with the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Compounding Experience: Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy practice experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to a sterile compounding setting. Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrated, deep working knowledge of USP , , and guidelines. Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct people management experience (hiring, scheduling, coaching, and performance management) in a PIC, Pharmacy Manager, or Lead Pharmacist capacity. Business Acumen: Experience translating executive direction into operational execution, with comfort managing productivity KPIs, inventory, staffing models, and vendor relations. Preferred (Highly Desirable): Prior PIC experience within an established 503A sterile compounding pharmacy. Specific sterile compounding expertise within the peptides and/or hormone optimization therapeutic spaces. Active multi-state pharmacist licensures, or a strong willingness and capability to rapidly obtain reciprocal licenses. Experience supporting mail-order, digital pharmacy, or multi-state dispensing models. Familiarity with advanced sterile workflow systems, digital pharmacy management software, and electronic prescription workflows. Experience working directly alongside executive teams within a fast-paced, growth-stage business environment.
