Job Description As Pastry Sous Chef, you will oversee the production of all pastries for an Eataly, including Italian pasticcini, cakes, desserts, cookies, candies and other dolci. You will report directly to the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef de Cuisine, and manage a pastry team of about 10 employees. Supervise and participate in the production of all pastry items for the Eataly’s counters and restaurants Assist in managing the pastry team: schedule shifts, submit payroll, provide feedback and motivation, train on Italian pastry production, principles and practices, coach and counsel Verify that all foods prepared meet quality standards in terms of portion size, flavor, texture and consistency Produce decorative centerpieces and special orders Order and requisition all supplies for the pastry shop Maintain a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards Perform other duties as required or assigned Qualifications 4+ years of experience in a high‑volume pastry preparation position Knowledge of Italian pastries and techniques Excellent communication and leadership skills Intermediate computer skills Degree from a post‑secondary culinary or pastry arts training program preferred Additional Information Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule often including evenings and weekends Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to exert well‑paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting Ability to use a burning oven, commercial stand mixer and other pastry baking equipment Benefits And Perks Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance Paid Time Off Paid Parental Leave 401(k) with match or RRSP Bonus program Free family meal daily Discounts at Eataly Classes on products and Italian cuisine Referral bonus program Eataly is an equal employment opportunity employer.
