Post-Doctoral Associate

Position Summary A Post‑Doctoral Associate position is open in the McGinty lab in the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN) at Rutgers University. The lab studies how the brain organizes value‑based decision‑making and other motivated behaviors. The successful candidate will conduct NIH‑funded research on the neural computations that underlie decision‑making, with a focus on the prefrontal cortex and limbic system. Techniques include nonhuman primate behavior, high‑channel‑count neural recordings, intracranial microstimulation, and state‑of‑the‑art machine‑learning analyses and modeling. Primate experience is not necessary, but familiarity with neural recording, data analysis, or modeling is strongly recommended. The position begins January 1 2027. Responsibilities Design and implement experiments to probe neural computations underlying decision‑making. Collect and analyze neural recording data, including high‑channel‑count recordings and microstimulation data. Apply machine‑learning and computational modeling techniques to interpret data. Collaborate with lab members and mentors in a supportive environment that encourages career development. Qualifications Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, computer science, or a related discipline. Familiarity with neural recording, data analysis, or modeling. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
