Position Title: DIETARY SUPERVISOR Department: FOOD & BEVERAGE


Exempt Status: Full- Time NON-EXEMPT Reports To: DIETITIAN


GENERAL SUMMARY:


Health Center Dietary Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes and special diet orders. Assists the Health Center Dietitian with the Health Center food service program and provides the level of supervision necessary to ensure that courteous and efficient service is delivered as well as high quality and nutritious foods.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES:


Assists in the planning, scheduling and supervision of Health Center dietary staff.


Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus, placing food orders and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.


Assists with serving meals in the health center.


Assists in assuring staff education is provided to dietary staff and culinary team in accordance with the staff education plan plus provides on the job training for Health Center dietary staff.


Assists in developing work assignments for all dietary staff assigning specific jobs and spot checking work to ensure standards are met.


Transports inventory to and from the health center when required.


Contacts the dietitian if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered.


Assures that meal tallies are accurate on a daily basis.


Communicates effectively with Supervisors and other associates.


Assumes Dietary Aide duties during staff absences, including meal preparation, service, and cleanup, to maintain uninterrupted dietary services for residents.


Participates in assigned meetings and in services.


Other Duties:


Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary condition.


Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.


Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.


Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.


Experience: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in food service operations within a health care setting.


Certifications: Certified in food safety and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent). Within 6 months of hire.


Preferred: Experience in a long-term care environment is highly desirable. Previous supervisory experience.


Skills:


Strong communication skills with the ability to empathize and work effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.


Ability to interpret and explain menus, respond to dietary-related questions, and coordinate meal services in alignment with nutritional standards and resident preferences.


Pay Range: $24-26/HOUR
