Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for accurately recording, classifying, and reconciling financial transactions within the company’s accounting system. This role plays a key part in the monthly closing process and ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Prepare and post monthly journal entries in the Sage accounting platform. Maintain supporting documentation for journal entries and accrual balances. Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accuracy and data integrity. Record incoming manual payments. Record and pay small portion of company’s accounts payable. Maintain summary files for purchase order related expenses and reconcile assigned vendors. Assist with audit requests and compliance tasks as assigned. Develop a strong understanding of accounting procedures and GAAP principles. Support the Controller and finance team with special projects and ad hoc reporting. Perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Minimum of 2-3 years of general accounting experience. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with integrated accounting/reporting systems is a plus. Ability to meet strict month-end closing deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members. High level of discretion when handling sensitive company information. Effective communication skills, particularly when interacting with management. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Experience with the Sage accounting system is a plus. 8-hour workday with flexible office hours within core business availability, Monday – Friday. Hybrid work schedule: Employees are expected to work in the office two days per week, with remote work available for the remaining days, subject to management approval.
