Principal Process EngineerAs the Principal Process Engineer, reporting to the Director - Process Engineering, you will drive process safety excellence, lead process optimization initiatives, develop innovative process designs for capital projects, and provide high-impact technical support to plant teams.Drive Excellence in Process SafetyPHAs: Provide technical assistance with PHAs/LOPAs, CAPAs, specify SIF requirementsMOCs: Initiate and execute MOCs for process improvements and capital projects, as neededProcess Design: Develop Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), PSV calculation basis, capital project process design basis, process control functional specification narratives for new processes and collaborate with production to address gaps in current Process Safety Information (PSI)Incident Investigation: Provide technical support as needed to ensure root causes are correctly identifiedCreate Value Through Innovation in Process OptimizationIdentify, evaluate, and execute medium-term initiatives to drive improvements in yield, energy usage, capacity, and qualityPartner with cross-functional teams including production and maintenance to ensure solutions are sustainableLeverage global process knowledge to ensure best practices are shared to drive improvementsLead/support plant trials, as needed, for process improvements to mitigate business, quality, safety, and production risks and to document and trial data and resultsDevelop Innovative DesignsDevelop process design basis for capital projectsLead feasibility studies for potential new initiativesEnsure technically sound detailed process engineering design is delivered to project team, including external engineering workParticipate in commissioning and startup teams, as neededOwn Technology of Plant AssetsCoordinate with process technology to ensure successful implementation of new products and process technologiesLead/support plant trials, as needed, for new or improved products and new process technologies to mitigate business, quality, safety, and production risks and to document trial data and resultsDevelop big picture step change improvements of strategic plant assetsDevelop strategic options for asset/product line footprintsProvide Technical Production SupportProvide technical assistance to plants for high impact issues and troubleshooting, as neededPartner with process technology and other cross functional teams, to develop practical solutions to plant problems, as neededProvide mentoring to production engineersCreating Extraordinary Starts With:Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical EngineeringMinimum of 15 years of experience in chemical process and/or production engineeringWorking knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS) and safety instrumented systems (SIS)Working knowledge of standards such as API, ASME, NFPA, etc.What We Value:Physical Health benefits including competitive Medical, Dental, and Vision packages, company contribution to Health Savings Account, cash incentive for Annual Physical and reimbursementFinancial Wellness opportunities including company paid life insurance and disability plans, 401(k) Retirement Plan with generous company match, and certified Financial Planning & Investment servicesMental Health benefits including generous Paid Time Off and 10 Paid Holidays, Paid Parental Bonding Leave, and much more!About UsEssential Solutions with Extraordinary ResultsSI Group is a global leader in the innovative technology of performance additives, process solutions, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and chemical intermediates.
