Production Lead – Contract‑to‑Hire | $21–$26/hr | 1st Shift | Onsite

A fast‑growing food manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, VA is looking for hands‑on Production Leads to support daily operations and help build a strong, reliable production team. ⭐ What You’ll Do

• Daily Leadership — guide production workflow and team activities
• Work Assignment — assign tasks and direct production associates
• Employee Training — train, coach, and mentor new and existing team members
• Quality Monitoring — ensure output meets quality and productivity standards
• Safety Compliance — enforce safety rules and proper PPE use
• Issue Troubleshooting — identify and escalate production problems
• Schedule Coordination — help align production schedules with customer needs
• Process Improvement — support continuous improvement initiatives
• Facility Organization — maintain a clean and efficient work area
• Team Collaboration — work closely with supervisors and management

⭐ Qualifications

Required

• 2+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
• Experience supervising or leading production employees
• Strong communication and team‑building skills
• Ability to train and develop employees
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced production environment
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred

• Food manufacturing experience
• GMP or SQF experience
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge
• Experience tracking KPIs or production metrics
• Forklift certification
• Packaging, assembly, or batching experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
