Program and Policy Specialist - Jackson County Health Dept. - University Health - (Mon-Fri, 8a-4:30p) 101 Truman Medical Center Job Location Jackson County Public Health Lee's Summit, Missouri Department JCHD Community Engagement & Policy Position Type Full time Work Schedule 8:00AM - 4:30PM Hours Per Week 40 Job Description The Program and Policy Specialist supports health promotion, disease prevention, and policy and systems change initiatives that improve the health of Eastern Jackson County communities. This role works with community partners to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and initiatives addressing identified public health priorities. Key Responsibilities Support the development and implementation of health promotion, disease prevention, and policy initiatives. Research evidence-based practices and use public health data to inform programs and strategies. Assist with community health assessments, behavioral health initiatives, and disease prevention programs. Develop educational materials, presentations, and other public health communications for diverse audiences. Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and public agencies. Assist with grant applications, proposals, reports, and other program documentation. Support community engagement efforts and identify opportunities to improve public health policies and programs. Compile and analyze program information and prepare monthly and annual reports. Present health information to individuals, groups, and community partners using culturally appropriate approaches. Collaborate with JCPH staff and community partners to advance strategic priorities and improve population health. Maintain professional knowledge of public health practices, policies, regulations, and emerging trends. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in public health, health promotion/education, or a closely related field. American Heart Association CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire. One to two years of progressively responsible related experience. Knowledge of public health functions, health education, program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Knowledge of health promotion, disease prevention, behavioral change, epidemiology, community organizing, and group facilitation. Strong research, data analysis, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. Must meet Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy requirements if driving is required. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in public health, health promotion/education, or a closely related field. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Knowledge of behavioral epidemiology and its application to health education and promotion. Experience researching, analyzing, and presenting statistical and public health information.
