Position overview Position title: Specialist, Project Scientist or Research Scientist Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is based on the academic series under which the candidate is appointed. The posted 2026-2027 UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the selected candidates will function with varying degrees of independence depending on the appointment series. Responsibilities include: Designing, managing, and/or conducting experiments; Training, mentoring, and teaching in a research setting to students and others in the field; Leading and/or contributing innovative and significant efforts to the project(s); Participating in and/or presenting at scientific meetings; Writing and/or contributing to scientific reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals for submission and/or publication. Appointment level/rank will be based on background and experience.
