Step into a rewarding contract role shaping the lives of students for the 2026-2027 academic year! Full-time Special Education Teachers are needed for an engaging opportunity serving K-7th grade learners in a supportive and inclusive school environment. This is an in-person position, working Monday through Friday, for 35-37.5 hours per week, in a vibrant setting near West Hartford, CT.
We are seeking three dedicated educators to manage resource classrooms: one for Kindergarten, one for Grades 1-2, and one for Grade 7. As a key member of the school's Special Education team, you’ll help foster academic growth and nurture the social, emotional, and behavioral development of your students.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, meeting Connecticut state requirements
- Previous work with K-7th grade students in a special education capacity is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Strong communication skills to partner effectively with families, support staff, and general educators
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Commitment to creating inclusive, positive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Serve as a case manager, coordinating services for students and maintaining accurate documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student achievement
- Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences
- Implement classroom management strategies that promote engagement and growth
- Advocate for your students and model high expectations for all learners
This full-year contract runs from August 2026 through June 2027, offering a fulfilling way to make a direct impact in students’ lives while developing valuable professional experience.
