UNC Academic Urogynecologist

Position Summary The University of North Carolina Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, is seeking a fellowship‑trained academic urogynecologist for a full‑time, open‑rank position. This role is ideal for a junior to mid‑level faculty member who will be clinically active while also dedicating time to research and education. The primary clinical responsibility is the expansion of clinical services for complex pelvic floor disorders. Clinical duties include outpatient and surgical care of patients with pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, genitourinary fistulas, bladder pain syndrome, mesh complications, obstructed defecation, and fecal incontinence. Experience with office procedures such as urodynamic studies, cystoscopy, urethral bulking injections, botulinum toxin injections, sacral neuromodulation, and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation is desired. Requisite surgical skills cover extensive experience with vaginal and robotic or laparoscopic repair of prolapse and urinary incontinence, including graft use, repair of complex genitourinary fistulas, urethral diverticula, Gartner’s duct cysts, Bartholin’s gland removal, and pelvic mesh removal. Outreach efforts to attract patients to the center are expected. Academic requirements include a track record of scholarship and teaching excellence, mentorship of fellows and residents, and evidence of research funding. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements An MD degree (or equivalent) with completion of a 4‑year ACGME‑accredited OB‑GYN residency and a 3‑year accredited fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. Excellent qualifications and letters of recommendation. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with national standards.
