Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: Winter contract through January 9, 2027 Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state license required at time of submission Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic experience required - Trained on EMU for monitoring and interviewing of epilepsy patients - Ability to float between PCU and MS units - Emphasis on neuro patients Description: This position involves working in a combined Progressive Care and Medical-Surgical Unit. The Registered Nurse will be expected to float between the two units. There is a particular emphasis on managing neuro patients, but nurses may also care for overflow patients. A patient ratio of 1:3-5 will be maintained, depending on acuity levels. Candidates must have experience with Epic charting. Local travelers within a specified radius are not accepted. Nurses are required to work a minimum of 3 out of 5 holidays. Additional compliance requirements include BLS, ACLS, EKG onboarding exam, NIHSS, math exam, and pharmacology exam. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics, with a daily census of around 19 patients. Team support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, and pharmacy. The unit's emphasis is on neuroscience patients but encompasses a variety of medical disciplines. Nurses may be required to float to other units or affiliate locations nearby. License history must be verified at submission, including previous employment eligibility. Consideration will not be given for any licensure violations. Nurses should be aware of and disclose any prior experience at the facility to confirm eligibility for rehire. Modules will be completed during orientation and annually, with specific requirements varying by specialty.
