Director, Global Data and Analytics

Job Overview We are UMG, the Universal Music Group. The Director, Global Data and Analytics will report directly to the EVP, Global Data and Analytics, and support REPUBLIC Collective in implementing analytics strategy across A&R and Marketing. Responsibilities Design and develop innovative, data‑driven tools and applications to solve critical business problems and achieve high adoption. Translate business strategy into research insights and deliver products with daily engagement across key areas of REPUBLIC Collective and artist partners. Act as embedded data resource within the label group to maximize ROI with fast turnaround implementation. Collaborate with engineering teams to iterate on bespoke product features that are easy to use and deliver commercial impact. Develop and execute effective UX research processes to produce repeatable, benchmarked, actionable outcomes. Maintain, clean, and optimize data pipelines, ensuring mining of all available information for industry‑leading KPIs. Build knowledge of real‑time users and their needs across the business and partners, applying best‑practice qualitative and quantitative research techniques. Qualifications 3–5+ years of experience in data analysis, management consulting, entertainment industry analysis, or similar. Strong analytical skills using Python, SQL, JavaScript, and advanced Excel, including dynamic modeling and named ranges. Proficiency with SQL‑based analytics platforms such as BigQuery and data visualization tools including Looker, Alteryx, Tableau, or DOMO. Experience querying databases, using APIs, and building and maintaining models. Familiarity with social media trends, especially TikTok, and statistical concepts. Ability to visualize data, present findings confidently, and create compelling reports. BS in Business Administration, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similarly quantitative degree. Passion for music and data; knowledge of current music industry trends is a plus.
