Job Title: RN Clinical Periop Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience preferred License: RN - Registered Nurse (Single State or Multi-State Compact) Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Must-Have: - Intraoperative or OR circulating experience Description: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality care. This role involves practicing in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The team is supported through a professional governance model. The framework for practice is guided by evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core competencies. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed and knowledgeable. They must uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant Nursing Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards. Key responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process in clinical care. This involves assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They provide patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. The RN Clinical Periop Nurse partners with patients and significant others. They use appropriate methods for communication and updates on the care plan. The role requires practices aligned with current clinical standards. Collaboration is vital. The RN coordinates quality patient care delivery and documentation. This promotes a professional care delivery model. Effective interdisciplinary communication methods are essential. The RN demonstrates teamwork and fiscal responsibility. They participate in performance improvement initiatives. This includes research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care. Professional development is also a focus of the role. The RN completes all competency assessments and mandatory education. They may serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff. Evidence-based practice and nursing research are promoted. Participation in activities related to evaluating patient care products is expected. The RN proactively plans for patient care across the continuum. They may participate in developing protocols and procedures. Supporting efficient use of resources is also important. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Compliance with all organizational policies and standards is required.
