Make appropriate occupational therapy referrals and program recommendations with input from the clinical supervisor as appropriate. Participate as a member of the education team by performing assessments, writing progress reports and attending team meetings; may not interpret data beyond the scope of occupational therapy assistant education. Participate in individually assigned schools MTSS (student support) process for universal screenings and in Tier 1 and Tier 2 planning and problem solving for student supports. Plan and implement occupational therapy interventions to identified students with input from the clinical supervisor as appropriate. Keep thorough and ongoing records for individual students receiving occupational therapy. Consult with teachers and other professionals to supplement and complement other therapeutic and educational efforts. Maintain ongoing communication with the supervising occupational therapist regarding status of students on caseload and related issues. Work with the team to create educational plans for annual reviews and provide input for students who are involved with the three‑year re‑evaluation or initial evaluation. Provide input to the clinical supervisor regarding caseload, program issues, and upcoming evaluations/referrals. Share knowledge and information related to occupational therapy services with staff and parents as appropriate. Prepare required written occupational therapy progress notes and IEPs with input from the clinical supervisor as appropriate. Maintain all necessary and appropriate records for public schools. Attend meetings and conferences as needed. Provide summer services as required by students’ IEPs. Perform all other necessary duties as requested by the supervising occupational therapist and/or coordinator of special education to fulfill the responsibilities of an occupational therapy assistant. Job Requirements Valid license to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. At least three years of relevant experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred; previous experience as a COTA in a public school setting is advantageous. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
