Compliance Manager

About the Opportunity A growing commercial insurance organization is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Regulatory Compliance Manager to join its compliance function, with a primary focus on Workers' Compensation and additional exposure to other property and casualty lines. This role will work closely with underwriting, claims, legal, compliance, operations, and other business functions to oversee regulatory compliance, support market conduct initiatives, and coordinate insurance-related reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of Workers' Compensation regulations, experience interacting with insurance regulators, and a practical, business-oriented approach to compliance. General Responsibilities Ensure that business processes, products, systems, and procedures comply with applicable insurance laws, regulations, and internal requirements. Serve as a subject matter expert on Workers' Compensation regulatory requirements, providing guidance to internal stakeholders and supporting other commercial P&C lines as needed. Monitor regulatory developments and communicate changes to relevant business teams, identifying necessary updates to policies, procedures, and operational practices. Support the development and implementation of market conduct compliance strategies, conducting regular reviews, audits, and assessments to identify potential issues and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Partner with legal and compliance stakeholders to investigate, address, and resolve market conduct concerns and other regulatory matters. Coordinate regulatory reporting requirements across underwriting, claims, operations, technology, legal, and other business functions. Oversee the collection, validation, analysis, and submission of regulatory data, including Medicare-related reporting, electronic data interchange (EDI), industry data calls, and other applicable reporting obligations. Maintain relationships with relevant insurance bureaus and industry organizations to support accurate reporting and ongoing compliance. Coordinate with third-party claims administrators and external service providers to ensure regulatory requirements are understood and appropriately addressed. Collaborate with technology teams and external vendors on data governance, reporting processes, and related compliance initiatives. Evaluate existing compliance processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and regulatory oversight. Conduct periodic reviews of regulatory requirements and assess the effectiveness of related compliance controls and procedures. Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, process documentation, and supporting materials. Contribute to broader compliance initiatives and provide additional support as business needs evolve. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of experience within the P&C insurance industry, with a focus on regulatory compliance, market conduct, or related regulatory functions. Experience working within a property and casualty insurance organization. Demonstrated experience supporting market conduct compliance, regulatory reviews, audits, or examinations. Experience interacting with state insurance regulators and coordinating regulatory responses. Familiarity with Workers' Compensation reporting requirements, industry data calls, and relevant insurance bureaus. Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills. Experience working with regulatory data, reporting systems, and cross-functional business stakeholders. Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and operate effectively in a hands-on, evolving environment.
