Elementary School: Lead Teacher of Coverage - Greater Boston (2026-2027) We are seeking a talented, committed, and culturally competent Lead Teacher to provide classroom coverage and support across KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School. The role supports classroom instruction, professional development, and operational duties to ensure students receive high‑quality, equitable education. Key Responsibilities Primarily oversee and independently lead up to 60 students working on asynchronous assignments, upholding school expectations including safety protocols. Maintain school‑wide systems for absent work (proficient in Google Classroom, PowerSchool, and Deanslist). For all grades: lead a class independently, co‑teach, provide short‑ or long‑term coverage, or step into a lead classroom role later in the year based on the school's needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers before and after planned absences. Maintain communication with the school leadership team, highlighting trends and gaps in coverage expectations for the team. Ensure that all children are affirmed, valued, and challenged every day. Foster a positive and safe learning environment. When applicable, create and internalize academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments. Innovate on best practices to execute engaging, differentiated instruction at a rigorously challenging level for all students. Implement aligned school‑wide or grade‑level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies. When asked to provide long‑term coverage, further responsibilities may include: Regularly analyze student work and academic data to modify lessons, refine curricula, and inform instructional practice. Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date student grades/records and initiate strong lines of communication with students and families regarding growth and progress. Prepare and internalize rigorous and engaging unit and daily lessons, leveraging provided curricula/resources and intellectual preparation tools. Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development, including pre‑service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year. Take ownership of craft by seeking and implementing feedback from coach and collaborating with teammates within and beyond school‑designed structures. Perform assigned duties including classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal duties. Develop strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent phone calls, texts, and/or emails with caregivers. Be willing to offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to create a professional working atmosphere conducive to accountability, change, and improvement. Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to tackle common challenges and implement grade‑wide systems, sharing responsibility for all students. Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar, initiating proactive communication when attendance barriers arise. General Requirements Embody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct by acting with integrity, leading with humanity, centering self‑awareness and critical consciousness, taking personal responsibility, and engaging productively. Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as required. Demonstrate ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner in accordance with the needs of the school. Show self‑awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to navigate a setting with students who express diverse needs. Use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs of students, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment, and building relationships and managing conflict with students, staff, and caregivers. Exhibit effective communication skills to perform assigned duties and meaningfully exchange information with students, staff, families, and others in person, through written communication, in front of groups, and on virtual platforms. Possess physical mobility to move in various positions in order to execute duties effectively, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead. Have physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds of materials or supplies and to physically restrain a student to prevent harm to themselves or others in an emergency situation. Maintain manual dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment. Demonstrated ability to drive student growth and achievement and to create a warm, inclusive, rigorous learning environment. Proficiency in Google Suite (Classroom, Gmail, Drive). Passion for subject/content area and demonstrated commitment to professional learning. Two or more years of full‑time teaching experience. Bachelor’s degree required. Pass a criminal background check. Benefits The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $55,000 to $89,500 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week), depending on years of relevant experience after your bachelor’s degree and any advanced degrees (+$3,000 for 1st advanced degree and +$1,500 for 2nd advanced degree). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other eligible bonuses.
