About the Opportunity
Direct Counsel is seeking a midlevel Real Estate Associate with at least three years of experience to join a well-established law firm's commercial real estate practice in Los Angeles. The associate will represent developers, investors, lenders, landlords, tenants, and other market participants in a broad range of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions. This role offers substantial client contact, hands-on responsibility, and opportunities to work on complex transactions across multiple asset classes.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan documents, and other real estate transaction documents.

• Conduct due diligence, including title and survey review.

• Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, development projects, and leasing matters.

• Coordinate transaction closings and post-closing matters.

• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas, including corporate, finance, land use, and hospitality.

• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, brokers, and consultants.

• Manage multiple transactions simultaneously while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.

• Admission to the California Bar or eligibility for admission.

• At least three years of commercial real estate experience at a law firm.

• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.

• Experience managing sophisticated real estate transactions from inception through closing.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary range of $225,000–$330,000.
