This contractor role supports Farmers Insurance and is designed for motivated professionals who want to develop their sales, leadership, and business-management skills while building their own book of business.

You will work directly with customers, identify their insurance needs, recommend coverage solutions, and develop strategies to attract and retain clients. You will also gain hands-on experience with marketing, networking, business planning, and agency operations. This opportunity may be a strong fit for someone who wants to become an insurance business owner in the future.

Important: This is an independent contractor opportunity supporting Farmers Insurance. It is not a full-time employment position directly with Farmers Insurance.

What You'll Do Grow Your Insurance Business

• Develop and implement a personalized business development plan.
• Build and manage your own book of business.
• Set daily, weekly, and monthly sales and activity goals.
• Identify target customer groups and create strategies to reach them.
• Manage your time, follow-ups, lead sources, and business priorities.
• Develop plans to increase revenue, customer acquisition, and long-term growth.

Generate Leads and Build Relationships

• Contact prospective customers and schedule conversations.
• Build relationships with customers, referral partners, community contacts, and local businesses.
• Develop new leads through networking, referrals, centers of influence, and other marketing activities.
• Create professional and lasting customer relationships.
• Tailor your sales approach to different customer needs and market opportunities.

Recommend Insurance Solutions

• Learn about customers' personal and business insurance needs.
• Ask thoughtful questions to identify risks and coverage gaps.
• Explain insurance options clearly and professionally.
• Prepare quotes and help customers select appropriate coverage.
• Sell and cross-sell products such as:
• Auto insurance
• Home insurance
• Life insurance
• Specialty insurance
• Commercial insurance
• Recommend coverage and limits in accordance with underwriting guidelines.

Provide Ongoing Customer Support

• Respond to customer questions by phone, email, and other written communication.
• Conduct coverage reviews and identify changing insurance needs.
• Provide timely service and support.
• Work with internal teams and other appropriate personnel to resolve customer requests.

Develop Your Professional Skills

• Complete required sales, business, and professional development milestones.
• Participate in company training, seminars, and other learning opportunities.
• Build knowledge of insurance products, technology, industry trends, and business operations.
• Obtain a Life and Health insurance license if you do not already hold one.
• Maintain accurate records in company systems.
• Meet program production, development, and performance requirements on schedule.

Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of sales and customer-service experience
• Property and Casualty insurance license at the time of hire

Preferred

• Life and Health insurance license at the time of hire
• Previous insurance sales experience
• Experience developing leads, managing accounts, or building customer relationships
• Interest in owning or operating an insurance agency
