The People & Culture, Generalist (Benefits) is responsible for administering and supporting the organization's employee benefits programs while providing general HR support across the employee lifecycle. This role serves as a key resource for employees regarding health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, leave administration, and wellness initiatives, while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Accountabilities:- Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and wellness programs.
- Manage employee enrollments, life event changes, and annual open enrollment processes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators.
- Audit benefits data and ensure accuracy in HR and payroll systems.
- Monitor eligibility and enrollment requirements.
- Coordinate and administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, military leave, and other company leave policies.
- Track leave requests and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Partner with managers and employees to facilitate successful leave transitions and returns to work.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Support employee relations initiatives and respond to employee questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Participate in performance management, employee engagement, and culture-building initiatives.
- Assist with policy development and implementation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits regulations.
- Prepare reports related to union, benefits utilization, enrollment trends, and compliance requirements.
- Support audits and required filings related to employee benefits programs.
- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience, with at least 2 years focused on benefits administration.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in a related Business field.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits and HR practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with benefits platforms.
- Knowledge of leave administration and employment laws.
- Self-starter; creative; independent yet team-oriented; socially adept; charming and people oriented.
