About the Paver Operator position: This position is responsible for operating the asphalt paver and assisting the supervisor in determining the pattern and sequence of the paving operations. Responsibilities include: Directs the trucks delivering asphalt to the paver, alerting the driver to overhead obstacles and signaling instructions. Removes asphalt material that may be sticking to conveyors, augers and other parts of paver. Cleans equipment as necessary during and after work is performed following proper lockout/tag-out procedures. Qualified candidates must have a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving. Education and Experience: No formal education is required. Has practical experience of a year or more within a paving crew performing the duties and responsibilities of a laborer, roller operator and/or screed operator.
