Assistant Director of Finance

We are looking for an experienced finance leader to support the financial operations of a government-affiliated nonprofit in Otsego, Minnesota. This position offers the opportunity to guide fund-focused accounting activities, provide leadership to a finance team, and contribute to long-term organizational planning. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to improve reporting, budgeting, and cash management practices in a hands-on environment.Responsibilities:• Direct fund accounting activities and ensure financial records are maintained accurately in accordance with nonprofit and GAAP standards.• Lead the month-end close process, reviewing entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to deliver timely and reliable financial information.• Oversee the development and administration of annual budgets, partnering with internal stakeholders to monitor performance against plan.• Prepare and analyze financial reports for leadership, highlighting trends, variances, and key operational insights.• Manage cash flow forecasting and support financial planning efforts to maintain strong fiscal oversight.• Supervise and develop finance staff, providing guidance, prioritization, and accountability across day-to-day operations.• Strengthen budget processes and internal financial controls to improve consistency, compliance, and decision-making.• Support fund administration responsibilities and contribute to broader departmental initiatives as the organization grows.
