Pathologists' Assistant (Per Diem)

Opportunity Details Perform daily activities associated with the processing of tissues received from surgical procedures. Responsible for ensuring the correct accessioning of all surgical specimens. Perform gross description and complete dissection of surgical specimens. Collect appropriate specimens for microbiological examination, tumor marker testing, and other specified analyses. Select and submit issue sections for microscopic examination, including frozen sections and permanent sections for light, electron, and fluorescent microscopy. Photograph appropriate specimens. Maintain orderly storage of surgical and autopsy specimens as well as disposal of specimens. Maintain equipment, adequate supplies, and the cleanliness of the grossing room. Serve as a backup for releasing and viewing deceased individuals in the absence of regular staff. Assist with departmental orientation and training of new hires and students. Qualifications New York State Pathologist Assistant License or New York State Limited Pathologist Assistant License required. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience performing activities associated with the processing of tissues received from surgical procedures. Per Diem Rate: $85.00 per hour.
