Position Overview

An opportunity is available for a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our nursing staff, adhering to the requirement of wearing Caribbean Blue scrubs. The LVN will report to the Director of Nursing and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and other departments to deliver optimal individualized nursing care in a skilled nursing facility.

Position Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a nurse in California with good physical and mental health.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Good physical health and stamina; able to walk, bend, lift, and perform manual skills required for patient care.
• Able to manage and accept patients exhibiting confused or potentially abusive behaviors.
• Adaptable and able to follow directions, assimilate new ideas, and accept change.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written; adequate vision and hearing.
• Dependable and reliable with a history of good attendance.
• Strong assessment skills and resourceful in emergency situations.
• Interest in continued education and self-development.
• Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• A team player, maintaining confidentiality, respecting colleagues, being considerate of others' time, and accountable for work output.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs tasks such as EKGs, blood draws, and IV starts while keeping work areas clean and organized.
• Provides individualized patient and family education.
• Administers medications per facility policies and maintains accurate documentation.
• Documents assessment findings and responses to nursing interventions.
• Initiates emergency measures and follows resuscitation protocols while communicating effectively in emergencies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and sensitive information regarding staff and facility procedures.
• Reports patient conditions to appropriate personnel during shifts.
• Adheres to safety and infection control standards in all patient care activities.
• Collaborates with other departments to ensure seamless patient care during procedures and tests.
• Assists with the orientation and education of new personnel as needed.
• Maintains the highest standards of patient care and communicates concerns regarding medical or nursing care through proper channels.
• Participates in ongoing education, including CPR training and staff meetings, to keep skills current.
• Follows established protocols for medication administration and documentation.
• Engages in regular safety practices and reports any hazards to management.
• Responds to call lights and ensures nursing tasks assigned to CNAs are completed appropriately.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by nursing management.
