Lead Dementia Respite Assistant (Gold Coast) Job No: AAQ270 Location: Gold Coast About This Opportunity Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Dementia Respite Assistant to join our Gold Coast Service Centre on a permanent full‑time basis. This role supports both clients and team members in a hands‑on care environment across centre-based and community settings. You will act as a role model to Dementia Respite Assistants and support workers, assisting with day‑to‑day care delivery while maintaining high‑quality, person‑centred services. You will work closely with the Community Services Manager and a multidisciplinary team to support older Australians and people living with dementia, ensuring they remain engaged, supported and connected within their community. Assist with buddying and orientation of new staff members. Deliver person‑centred care across respite and community settings. Support clients with personal care, mobility, meals and activities. Promote independence, dignity and meaningful engagement. Assist with centre activities, outings and event coordination. Complete documentation and progress notes using VisualCare systems. Escalate client concerns and workplace risks appropriately. Support a welcoming, safe and well‑maintained environment. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team. Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, Disability or equivalent. Minimum 12 months’ experience in a similar role. Experience supporting older people and people living with dementia. Strong understanding of person‑centred and community‑based care. Ability to mentor and support other care staff positively. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills. Strong organisational and problem‑solving capability. Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain. Current Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable insured vehicle.
