About the Position

New Sports Bar & Grill in Kakaʻako is hiring a Kitchen Chef!

We are looking for a skilled and dependable chef who takes pride in food quality, presentation, and kitchen operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new restaurant concept and contribute your own ideas to menu development and testing.

Position Overview

As a Kitchen Chef , you will be responsible for day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, kitchen organization, staff training, inventory management, and maintaining high standards for food quality and sanitation.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to menu development and testing , bringing your own ideas, techniques, and creativity to the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to established recipes and standards
• Handle all kitchen prep work, cooking, and plating
• Assist with menu development and testing , contributing new ideas and culinary techniques
• Supervise and train kitchen staff on equipment, cooking techniques, and safety procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen and workstation
• Follow and maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards
• Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and organizing ingredients
• Participate in inventory management and stock preparation
• Monitor food costs and portion control to help maintain profitability
• Ensure proper handling and storage of food and ingredients
• Communicate effectively with team members and management
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and professional team environment
• Take initiative and help ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Employment Type: Full-Time

• Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
• Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week
• Availability: Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Overtime: Generally not expected

Compensation & Benefits

• $16–$22/hour + Tips
• Estimated tips: approximately 10–20%

Qualifications & Requirements

Required / Preferred Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in food & beverage or a professional kitchen
• Culinary degree or equivalent professional kitchen experience preferred
• Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and plating
• Strong understanding of cooking principles, techniques, and kitchen equipment
• Valid Hawaii Food Handlers Card
• Must have a cleared TB Test
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic math skills
• Strong commitment to food quality, safety, and sanitation
• Passion for cooking and a desire to continuously learn and develop culinary skills
