Med Surg RN | Ottumwa, IA
Pay Range: $70,803 - $95,596/ Annually
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Med Surg Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to adult patients in medical-surgical and orthopedic settings. This role involves collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, managing a 1:5 patient ratio, and supporting positive patient outcomes through clinical expertise and patient education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care tailored to adult medical-surgical populations
• Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses
• Regularly monitor and document vital signs
• Perform wound care and comprehensive patient assessments
• Develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain thorough, timely documentation in Electronic Health Records (Epic and other systems)
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Educate patients on care plans, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Respond promptly to emergencies and apply infection control protocols
• Plan and coordinate patient discharge processes

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year experience in medical-surgical nursing
• Associate's degree in nursing (ADN/ASN)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in patient assessment and Intravenous (IV) therapy
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
• Skilled in medication administration and critical thinking
• Strong communication, time management, and team collaboration abilities
