Senior Strategic Pricing Analyst

Position Overview

Our client, a prestigious and top-ranked AmLaw firm, is seeking a Senior Strategic Pricing Analyst to join its pricing and revenue strategy team in New York. This role partners directly with firm partners and practice leaders to shape pricing strategy, structure complex fee arrangements and Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs), and deliver data-driven insights that influence firmwide decisions. You’ll coordinate across departments to prepare pricing responses for RFPs, drive process improvement initiatives, and use AI tools to automate and modernize how the pricing function works. This is a highly visible role working directly with partners and clients.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with attorneys to understand the legal work being priced, and provide strategic guidance on pricing decisions
• Develop and deploy financial models that evaluate a range of pricing scenarios, and advise on the fee structures that drive profitability
• Draft fee proposals, advise partners on strategy, and help present proposals to clients
• Prepare cost estimates for prospective and existing matters across litigation, regulatory, and transactional practices
• Coordinate with multiple departments to gather data and insights, and prepare pricing and financial responses for RFPs
• Structure and evaluate complex fee arrangements and AFAs, and maintain the firm’s AFA database to ensure accuracy
• Partner with billing and finance teams to implement AFAs in compliance with client billing agreements
• Build and maintain financial models to support budgets and matter forecasts
• Monitor matter performance against budgets, identify areas for improvement, and forecast outcomes
• Conduct profitability, realization, and variance analysis to identify trends and optimize pricing performance
• Track market trends and competitor pricing, and recommend adjustments to the firm’s pricing models
• Lead process improvement projects that increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the pricing function
• Identify and implement opportunities to automate workflows using AI tools
• Develop dashboards and reporting in Power BI, and leverage Aderant data to deliver actionable insights to leadership and practice groups
• Present findings and recommendations to partners, firm leadership, clients, and other senior stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm or professional services environment
• Significant experience in legal pricing and financial analysis required
• Strong financial modeling skills required; RFP experience preferred
• Experience leading process improvement initiatives and using AI to automate manual tasks preferred
• Advanced Excel skills required; proficiency in Power BI and Aderant or Elite (3E) preferred
• Strong communication skills and executive presence, with the confidence to work directly with partners
