Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Madison, WI. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, including recording journal entries, reconciling bank and general ledger accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records for multiple club locations. The Staff Accountant prepares monthly financial statements and reports, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and supports month‑end and year‑end close processes. Responsibilities also include processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, monitoring cash flow, and helping ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards. The role collaborates closely with operations and leadership to provide financial insights that support decision-making and overall business performance. Qualifications Accounting and finance skills, including general ledger management, journal entry preparation, and financial statement reporting. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank and balance sheet reconciliations. Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and comfort working with data and financial analysis tools. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus. Knowledge of GAAP and experience in multi-location or franchise-based businesses is beneficial.
