Position Summary The Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance duties throughout building and grounds. Work involves light carpentry, electrical, pipe fitting, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, landscaping, and snow removal. Maintains building security. Supports Culture of Excellence through active role with assigned neighborhood initiatives. Essential Job Functions Carry out maintenance duties (repairs, painting, carpentry and heavy cleaning) as assigned. Perform preventive maintenance duties according to schedule on all Home vehicles and equipment. Keep daily record of duties performed to be submitted to supervisor. Clear snow from walks and parking areas. Be on call as required. Maintain building security. Report to fire zone when alarm sounds. Serve as switchboard backup when necessary. Participate in in-service education and safety programs. Perform other duties as required by the supervisor or by Administration from time to time. Expectations of the Position Dependable, report to work on-time for every scheduled shift (ready to work at beginning of shift) and work full scheduled shifts unless physically unable or pre‑approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation. Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management. Have reliable transportation to and from work. Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service‑oriented, team, cooperative demeanor and supports Culture of Excellence initiatives by interactions with co‑workers and/or Members. Abide by work‑related/job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook). Qualifications of the Position Education: High school diploma or GED. Experience: Two to three years of HVAC, boilers, and general maintenance work Preferred. Licenses / Certifications: Must have a valid NYS driver’s license. Conditions of Employment Work is performed in a clean, well lit, “Home‑Like,” nursing Home setting. Employee must be able to perform essential job functions (reasonable accommodation may apply). Physical Requirements Refer to Physical Requirements form. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by Friendly Home. May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Members or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Members, visitors and team members during emergency situations.
