About the Role The Senior Accountant will play a critical role within the US accounting team, managing highly visible accounting areas and working with a cross‑functional team to support Samsara’s growth. The role requires deep technical accounting knowledge, effective communication, and the ability to drive process improvement initiatives, including the adoption of AI and automation tools. Responsibilities Own end‑to‑end GL month‑end close activities across complex, high‑visibility account areas, including preparation and review of account reconciliations. Demonstrate deep ownership of assigned areas such as internal‑use software, inventory, deferred commissions, marketable securities and investments, complex bank account arrangements, and AP/AR‑related accounts. Apply technical accounting judgment to evaluate transactions, research US GAAP guidance (including ASC 842, ASC 360, ASC 350, and others), and document conclusions in clear, audit‑ready memos. Serve as a cross‑functional business partner to teams including procure‑to‑pay, treasury, payroll, sales compensation, order‑to‑cash, and supply chain, anticipating issues before they become close problems. Lead and drive process improvement initiatives—owning the design and implementation of scalable solutions using AI and other automation tools. Support external audit by preparing PBC schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and maintaining organized, well‑documented workpapers. Collaborate actively with team members, sharing knowledge and driving continuous improvement through scalable process and tooling enhancements that reduce manual effort and improve team efficiency. Evaluate and champion the adoption of AI and automation tooling to reduce manual effort and improve close quality. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. 5+ years relevant accounting experience in both public accounting and industry. Ability to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of operational accounting processes (accruals, account reconciliation, month‑end/year‑end close). Strong collaboration and communication skills. Intermediate Excel skills. Preferred Qualifications CPA (or equivalent) or interest in obtaining CPA. Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies. Fast learner with a strong desire to learn and a “can do” attitude. Experience with NetSuite. Experience supporting external audit. Experience with AI tools such as Claude, Gem, Glean. Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow‑through. Salary & Benefits Annual Base Salary: $72,887.50—$98,000 USD.
