## General AccountantApplylocations: Detroit, MItime type: Full timeposted on: Posted 9 Days Agojob requisition id: R8936**Job Summary:**The General Accountant for Olympia Development is responsible for providing general accounting support to the organization including but not limited to preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end closing, supporting the budgeting and annual auditing processes.**Key Responsibilities:*** Audits all expense reports for approval signatures, accuracy, reasonableness and compliance with corporate policies.* Handle online utility bill retrieval and payments for all properties.* Coordinate with Accounts Payable to review of bank reconciliations to investigate stale checks, payment issues and duplicate payment review.* Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.* Participates in the monthly close process including preliminary review of financial statements, preparation and posting of adjusting journal entries, and explanation of budget to actual variances for assigned departments.* Assists in preparation of the annual budget through analysis of accounts, researching data, coordination with department leaders and compiling reports.* Act in accordance with corporate accounting policies and procedures; recommend new ideas or changes to current policies and procedures as needed.* Perform various duties assigned by management including special projects, cross train with other employees for back-up coverage, and assist in accounting support.**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*** Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the role.* Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.* Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.* Ability to understand processes and coordinates the process within the accounting rules* Strong attention to detail.* High level of resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment, setting priorities and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.* Proficiency in spreadsheet software applications.**Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*** Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.* Experience with Yardi accounting software.**Working Conditions:*** Frequent visual/auditory attention.* Exposure to moderate noise level.The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
