Global Capital Markets Credit Advisory Associate - New York

Morgan Stanley’s Banking Group provides industry, regional and product expertise to corporations, institutions and government clients in order to develop and execute innovative and customized solutions to the most challenging strategic and financing issues faced in the global marketplace. Our NewYork office is looking for an Associate to join the Credit Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG team members are expected to have experience in fixed‑income capital markets, investment banking and credit risk analysis advising high‑yield and investment‑grade clients in their capital raising and strategic financing decisions. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with Global Capital Markets (GCM) and Investment Banking colleagues, focusing on corporate credit and the rating impact from strategic decisions such as M&A, LBOs, stock buy‑backs, hybrid issuance, special dividends and general capital structure positioning. Provide seamless advice to senior management of Fortune500 companies on strategic positioning to optimize corporate financing decisions with investors and rating agencies. Deliver client‑focused analysis including debt capacity, liquidity, loss‑given‑default and recovery metrics, rating advisory methodologies, and paths for rating defense and upgrades. Qualifications Ability to manage multiple projects, provide complicated financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance and credit advisory solutions. Comprehensive understanding of Debt Capital Markets. Extensive Rating Agency experience (highly preferred) with comprehensive insight and perspective of Rating Agency’s overall credit analysis and methodologies. Extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment to working hard. Extraordinarily high level of focus on work quality and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professionalism and ability to articulate and present complex rating agency methodology, criteria and rating impacts on complex transactions in a clear and concise manner during client interaction meetings. Commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines. Interest in developing a career in Global Capital Markets. Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA, CA and/or CFA designation would be an asset. Series licensing or the ability to obtain it within the first year of appointment. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $225,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. Compensation may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses and other short‑ and long‑term incentive packages.
