Manual Machinist / Light Assembly

Machinists prepare and operate a variety of manual machines (lathe, Bridgeport, grinders), to produce precision parts from various metal & polymer types (Stainless, Carbon, Alum; Cast, Exotics, Delrin, UHMW, Various Plastics) and configurations (Forging, Bar Stock Weldments, Casting, Plate).Duties/ResponsibilitiesAll Machines:Select, set up, remove, and debur all tooling and partsResponsible for machining and initial inspection of part being madeHave a thorough understanding of the speeds and feeds of the machine and how it relates to the material being cutResponsible for predefined Preventative Maintenance TasksLathe:Operate a Manual LatheVertical Machining Center:Operate a Bridgeport MillReceipt Inspection:Periodic inspection of vendor received partsSkills/QualificationsDemonstrated safety awareness and training in a construction/manufacturing environment3+ years' experience as a manual machinistMulti-tasking ability and organizational skillsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and work ordersTime management and flexibilityAbility to work in a team environmentExperience using hand and power toolsSelf-motivated and able to keep a clean, organized work spaceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust have an understanding of the different speeds, feeds, and their relation to materialAble to take direction and constructive criticismCapable of fitting and building small assemblies from drawingsWillingness to work overtime as needed to meet customer demandsEducational/Physical RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDMust be able to complete and pass a physical assessmentMust be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodationEvery day repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement, involving gripping and wrist torquingEvery day standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stoopingEveryday lifting 25-50 lbs.Exposure to moving machinery, dust, dirt, grease, or other disagreeable elementsThe Ackley Hartnett Company, part of R-V industries, is an equal opportunity employer
