Kennel Assistant

Description Department: Boarding Location: Huntington, New York Compensation: $17.00 / hour Description West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center is looking for a compassionate, dependable Kennel Attendant to join our animal care team! As a Kennel Attendant, you'll play an important role in providing exceptional care to our hospitalized, boarding, and daycare patients while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pets, clients, and our veterinary team. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is dependable, organized, comfortable with the physical and sometimes messy realities of animal care, and able to multitask safely in a fast-paced veterinary hospital with a high volume of patients and guests. Previous experience working with animals, such as in a veterinary hospital, animal shelter, boarding facility, kennel, daycare, grooming facility, or other professional animal care setting , is strongly preferred. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and have availability for day and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays . Please note: This is a permanent position . We are seeking candidates interested in long-term employment and are not hiring for seasonal opportunities. Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role: Kennel & Animal Care Responsibilities Provide daily care for hospitalized and boarding animals, including feeding, cleaning, exercising, and monitoring their well-being Walk and safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized kennels, cages, patient rooms, and animal care areas Assist with bathing, brushing, nail trims, and basic grooming Observe animal health and behavior and promptly report any concerns to the veterinary team Administer medications and treatments as directed Assist with safely handling animals during examinations and procedures when needed Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatments Complete dishes, laundry, and other daily cleaning and sanitation responsibilities Dog Daycare & Boarding Responsibilities Supervise one-on-one play sessions with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Provide enrichment, attention, exercise, and socialization to daycare and boarding guests Prepare and administer meals and treats according to owner or hospital instructions Assist with guest check-in and check-out for boarding and daycare services Interact with pet owners and provide friendly, professional customer service Maintain hospital laundry and transport laundry between our facilities as needed Provide animal care in both indoor and outdoor environments, rain or shine Support the veterinary and hospital teams with additional tasks as needed What You'll Bring: Genuine love of animals and commitment to their care and well-being Dependable, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Strong communication and teamwork skills Previous animal care experience preferred, but not required Must be 18 years of age or older Benefits: Employee discounts Flexible schedules 401K with company match Training and career development #J-18808-Ljbffr West Hills Animal Hospital & 24hr Emergency Veterinary Center
