Role Description

Granicus is seeking a skilled Product Owner to join our engineering team and help build tools that transform how government works. As the Product Owner, you will:

• Gather business requirements from cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Shape the product vision and work closely with engineering to deliver high‑quality, customer‑focused outcomes.
• Define clear acceptance criteria, validate delivery outcomes, and manage a prioritized product backlog.
• Actively leverage AI capabilities to enhance product discovery, refine requirements, accelerate delivery, and improve decision making.
• Deliver roadmap concepts, maintain product quality, and continuously identify opportunities to incorporate AI‑driven innovation.
• Balance AI‑enabled acceleration with foundational skills of product strategy, stakeholder alignment, and disciplined execution.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

• Act as the agile product owner on engineering scrum team(s).
• Own and prioritize the backlog for a feature area in collaboration with the Product Manager.
• Leverage AI tools to support backlog refinement, story creation, and prioritization decisions.
• Prioritize tradeoffs, clarify requirements, and drive user stories to acceptance throughout the agile development lifecycle.
• Use AI to accelerate requirements definition, improve acceptance criteria quality, and identify gaps or risks early.
• Participate in sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings and provide feedback to the team.
• Ensure acceptance criteria are clearly defined and verify that story implementation matches requirements.
• Drive projects to completion with a focus on efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement enabled by AI insights.
• Maintain constant and transparent communication with the team and stakeholders.
• Enable internal teams to support the product through clear documentation, knowledge sharing, and AI-assisted content creation.

• Experience using AI‑powered tools to accelerate product discovery, decision making, and execution.
• Strong exposure to AI‑assisted analysis, pattern detection, and insight generation across the product lifecycle.
• Ability to evaluate AI‑driven opportunities and incorporate AI‑supported forecasting, prioritization, and scenario modeling into product strategy.
• Comfort working with non‑deterministic systems, AI‑enhanced workflows, and emerging AI capabilities.
• Foundational product leadership skills to operate independently and lead teams without relying solely on AI.

Experience & Qualifications

• 3+ years working with technical teams, product development, or product management.
• Experience working with AI‑enabled workflows or AI‑driven product capabilities is a strong plus.
• Experience with SaaS or web‑based products and modern product delivery practices.

• Responsible for Granicus information security by preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of Granicus information assets.
• Responsible for ensuring the data privacy of our employees and customers, and taking all required privacy training in a timely manner.
