GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing production schedules across FruitSmart's Grandview and Prosser manufacturing facilities. This position oversees planning activities for juice production, juice blending, juice packaging, drying, milling, and packaging operations while ensuring customer demand, inventory management, production capacity, labor resources, and raw material availability are balanced to achieve operational and financial objectives.

This role serves as the primary link between Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams. The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for managing frozen inventory levels, minimizing product aging, optimizing inventory turns, coordinating product transfers between facilities, and ensuring frozen materials are tempered and available for scheduled production runs.

The Production Planning Supervisor directly supervises the Production Planning team, Production Batch Order (PBO) generation, PBO accuracy, and provides leadership in the production planning processes, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for:
  • Juice production
  • Juice blending operations
  • Juice packaging operations
  • Drying operations
  • Milling operations
  • Dry ingredient packaging operations
• Accurately generate all PBO’s in the ERP system.
• PBO’s must be generated in the ERP system one day ahead of the scheduled production date to support production planning, material allocation, and operational readiness.
• Validate all finished PBO’s for accuracy, in a timely manner, to avoid any delays in month end financials.
• Lead weekly production planning meetings and communicate priorities to all operational stakeholders.
• Participate in Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes and support long-term production planning initiatives.
• Partner closely with Production and Procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials, packaging materials, and ingredients.
• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to align production schedules with customer expectations.
• Coordinate with Quality and Food Safety teams regarding inventory status, product holds, and material releases.
• Maintain communication with Warehouse teams regarding inventory movement, storage capacities, and shipment priorities.
• Coordinate production plans between Grandview and Prosser facilities to maximize equipment utilization and operational efficiency.
• Balance customer demand, production capacity, labor availability, maintenance schedules, and raw material availability.
• Prioritize production orders to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing changeovers and downtime.
• Monitor schedule attainment and adjust plans as necessary to address changing production requirements.
• Collaborate with Production Managers and Supervisors to identify processing equipment and seasonal capacity constraints.
• Coordinate planned downtime and preventative maintenance activities with Maintenance to minimize disruptions to production schedules.
• Coordinate and collaborate with sales on considering Dry and frozen inventories to minimize aging and long-term storage when planning.

WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Strong ERP and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and time management
• Proficiency in using inventory management software and systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage a team.
• Three or more years of production accounting/control experience

• Knowledge of manufacturing operations; prior juice manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to support data‑driven decisions.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed. 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

• High school diploma required, with at least three years of experience in inventory management and production planning.
• Associate’s degree in business administration, Accounting or equivalent preferred
