About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse License Required Certifications: BLS Required Must-Have: - At least one year of Medical-Surgical experience Description: General Surgery Unit consists of 26 beds. There are 4-6 nurses scheduled each shift, determined by patient acuity and census. Day shift includes one charge nurse, two registered nurses, two licensed practical nurses, two certified nursing assistants, and one to three sitters. Night shift also includes one charge nurse, two registered nurses, two licensed practical nurses, two certified nursing assistants, and one to three sitters. Patient ratios are typically 1:5 or 1:6. Key equipment includes remote telemetry monitoring, Dinamaps, epidurals, PCAs, chest tubes, and surgical drains. The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech. Candidates should possess medical-surgical expertise, with trauma experience considered a valuable asset. Typical procedures include care for post-operative patients and trauma patients. The ideal candidate is compassionate and a team player. Trauma education is required, with training due within the first week of the assignment. Weekend shifts are mandatory every other weekend. Make-up weekends will be needed for any weekend call-outs.
