Certified Medical Assistant – Specialty Care, Rahway, NJ Location: 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ. Facility: Barnabas Health Medical Group. Department: Specialty Care at Rahway. Shift: Day. Pay Range: $23.50 – $29.90 per hour. Req #: 0000253432. Job Overview Specialty Care at Rahway is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under physician guidance. Clinical duties include triage, taking vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed. The CMA also serves as a practice ambassador, ensuring a positive patient experience and upholding safety and privacy standards. Essential Functions Performs clinical tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, medication administration, and minor surgeries as needed. Supports practice needs with clerical tasks like answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co‑pays, preparing lab requests, and other assignments. Communicates with insurance providers and handles pre‑authorizations and certifications as necessary. Prepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and maintains a neat, sanitary environment. Rooms patients, verifies patient information, confirms purpose of visit, obtains vitals, updates medical history. Communicates with patients and other providers as instructed by the supervising physician or practitioner. Creates and maintains health record information, files and organizes as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Phlebotomy and EKG experience. Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) system, Epic. Certifications and Licenses BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association. Medical Assistant Certification: AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA, or NHA. Scheduling Requirements 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Full-Time.
