Administrative Law Judge Salary: $10,588 – $15,263 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Final Filing Date: 6/29/2026. Job Summary As an Administrative Law Judge in the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) General Jurisdiction Division, you will conduct quasi‑judicial hearings concerning the renewal, suspension, or revocation of licenses and other administrative matters referred to OAH. You will prepare proposed or final decisions in compliance with the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) and other relevant legal authorities. Responsibilities Conduct administrative hearings with typically one to two parties and settled points of law. Preside over hearings involving multiple parties, complex legal issues, or contested cases, providing analysis and written decisions. Utilize OAH’s electronic case management system, software, and online tools to manage case files and documentation. Mentor or advise other Administrative Law Judges as assigned. Qualifications & Minimum Requirements State Bar of California license (current, in good standing); letter of license required prior to hiring. Residency in California. Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Experience in administrative law, adjudication, or related legal practice expected. Completion of a State Examinations/Employment Application (STD 678) with detailed employment history; participation in the DMV pull notice program required.
