As a Finance Intern, you will support various activities of the Department of the Comptroller, including performing calculations, reviewing documents for accuracy, and entering information into the financial management system. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who is interested in learning about county government.
Essential duties include assisting with audit, accounts payable processing, financial system training, budget review, bank statement reconciliation, journal entry preparation, tax collection reconciliation, payroll accrual calculation, and more. You will also provide assistance with various activities of the Department of the Comptroller.
Your skills should include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, financial software, information gathering and processing, Microsoft Excel, bookkeeping, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Your strengths should encompass service excellence, decision making, collaborating with others, attention to detail, digital literacy, professionalism, accounting and reporting, processing and recording financial transactions, continuous learning, and reconciliation and analysis.
You might be a good fit if you are a current college student majoring in accounting or finance. This internship is a summer placement, which will run from May to August, or as agreed upon by the manager and intern. Requires criminal background check as a condition of employment.
