Day Program Coordinator

Feist Vocational Counseling and Placement, a leading employment organization in Dane County, is seeking a Day Program Assistant to work in our daily classes which are a mix of facility-based and community-based activities that allow our participants ages 18 and up to grow and engage!

The Feist Day Program emphasizes classroom engagement and community-based learning geared towards empowering and supporting persons with disabilities to achieve their highest potential. Our mission is to provide intentional learning and experiences while meeting the human needs of competence, independence, autonomy, safety, and joyful engagement.

Job duties:

·       Provide 1:1 and/or group support with clients for successful engagement in curriculum

·       Assist in the implementation and understanding of class curriculum

·       Assist in lesson planning, including group activities, guest speakers, outings and more!

·       Track progress when necessary, and provide constructive feedback to participants

·       Work collaboratively with Feist day program coordinator, that will provide support for participants at their work sites and within the classroom

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·       Ability to evaluate and problem-solve disability and job-related concerns.

·       Sensitivity to the needs of underserved adults with multiple barriers to employment

·       Ability to deal with challenging behavior while teaching job tasks, and communicate any support needed

·       Must be able to communicate clearly (verbal and written)

·       Valid Driver’s License, Insurance, and reliable transportation. (Vehicle required)

·       Successful completion of a standard background check, including review of any criminal record and complying with the State of Wisconsin DVR Criminal background check policy

·       Completed State of WI-Work Force Development Modules and Ethics Training. (provided)

Physical Requirements:

·       Must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours a day 

·       Must be able to lift and carry items up to 20 pounds 

·       Must be able to work in variable conditions (lighting, temperature, noise) indoors and outdoors (examples: office areas, retail stores, shop floor in production areas)

Pay: $20-$22 per hour 

Mileage reimbursement is provided to all employees who work an average of 14 hours or more per week in the month they are requesting reimbursement,  or employees who transport clients. 

Full-time : 32+ Hours per week with a competitive benefits package

Part time:  Part-time positions could be available seasonally and can be applied to upon request
