The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible adult cardiothoracic surgeon to join our expanding team. Candidates should have skills and experience in surgery for both malignant and benign thoracic processes, including mediastinal and chest wall. Robotic experience is beneficial. As a Long Island premier academic medical center, Stony Brook Medicine represents Stony Brook University, as well as its major centers, and more than 50 community-based healthcare locations throughout Suffolk County. With 624 beds, Stony Brook University Hospital serves as Suffolk County's only tertiary care center and Regional Trauma Center. Our thriving community has great schools and is conveniently located between NYC and the Hamptons. The cardiothoracic faculty at Stony Brook advocate and provide strong mentorship for junior faculty. Research opportunities are offered in a well-structured academic department.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. degree (or foreign equivalent).
• Eligibility for New York State License and Board Certified/Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Eligibility for the academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

• Record of success in basic or clinical research.
• Interest and experience supervising undergraduate/graduate medical students, residents and fellows.

Special Notes

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
