Overview
Moonshot is hiring a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to define and lead the company’s workforce strategy as we scale. This role is responsible for ensuring that how we structure teams, develop leaders, and manage performance directly supports business execution and growth.
The CHRO is a strategic operator and advisor to the executive team, responsible for aligning organizational design, leadership capability, and workforce practices with Moonshot’s operating model. You will guide how the company builds teams, sets expectations for leaders, and scales its culture and performance standards.
This is a builder role. You will shape the company’s leadership structure, talent strategy, and HR systems while supporting a fast-moving organization where priorities evolve quickly and execution matters.
You will partner closely with the COO and executive leadership team and are ultimately accountable for ensuring the company’s workforce strategy enables operational performance, scalability, and long‑term organizational strength.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise executive leadership on organizational structure, reporting relationships, and spans of control to ensure clarity and accountability
- Lead workforce planning to anticipate talent needs, identify capability gaps, and align hiring with business priorities
- Design and evolve organizational structures to support growth, execution speed, and decision‑making efficiency
- Ensure leadership expectations, roles, and accountability frameworks are clearly defined and consistently applied
Leadership Development & Performance
- Establish standards for how leaders manage teams, drive performance, and communicate across the organization
- Build leadership development programs to strengthen management capability and internal talent pipelines
- Implement performance management frameworks that reinforce accountability, execution, and results
- Support leadership in evaluating performance, addressing gaps, and making talent decisions
Culture & Organizational Effectiveness
- Define and reinforce company values, behaviors, and operating principles
- Ensure culture supports accountability, urgency, and high performance
- Guide leaders through organizational challenges, change management, and workforce transitions
- Strengthen communication, alignment, and consistency across teams
Compensation, Rewards & Workforce Practices
- Design compensation strategies that reinforce performance, accountability, and business outcomes
- Oversee compensation structures, incentive programs, and reward systems
- Ensure alignment between compensation, performance expectations, and company priorities
- Provide guidance on workforce policies and employment practices
Employee Relations & Risk Management
- Advise leadership on employee relations issues, performance concerns, and workplace challenges
- Ensure consistent, fair, and business‑aligned handling of employee matters
- Oversee compliance with employment laws, regulations, and workforce policies
- Mitigate organizational and legal risk while supporting operational speed
- Lead and scale the HR function, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, compensation, and HR operations
- Define team structure, roles, and accountability within HR
- Ensure HR programs and services effectively support the organization
- Build scalable systems and processes to support rapid growth
Executive Advisory & Business Partnership
- Partner with the COO and executive leadership team on workforce strategy and organizational decisions
- Advise on leadership structure, succession planning, and long‑term organizational capability
- Support real‑time decision making in a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment
- Ensure workforce strategy is tightly aligned with business objectives and execution priorities
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including executive‑level responsibility for workforce strategy
- Proven experience advising executive leadership on organizational design, leadership capability, and workforce planning
- Demonstrated success building or evolving organizational structures in high‑growth or scaling environments
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align workforce strategy to operational and financial outcomes
- Deep experience in employee relations, compensation strategy, and leadership development
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulatory requirements, with the ability to balance compliance and execution
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment on complex organizational decisions
- Experience leading HR teams and building scalable HR systems and processes
- Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments with evolving priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or operations‑heavy environments
- Experience supporting high‑growth or scaling organizations
- Background in building HR functions from the ground up
- Experience implementing HRIS or workforce planning systems
- Experience working closely with executive leadership in a builder‑stage company
