Storeroom Clerk

NSC Staffing is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented storeroom clerk to support shipyard and industrial operations in San Diego. This position plays a vital role in maintaining efficient operations by ensuring accurate inventory control, proper material handling, and timely support for production teams in a fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for receiving, tracking, issuing, and maintaining tools, equipment, and consumables for all employees. This role ensures inventory accuracy, compliance with company procedures, and quality control of all materials and equipment supporting shipyard and vessel operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Tool Control

• Receive, issue, track, and coordinate the transfer of tools and equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records for all tool room transactions, including issues, returns, and receipts.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly tagged and labeled in accordance with company requirements.

Inspection & Quality Control

• Inspect all incoming materials and equipment for accuracy, quality, and damage.
• Document and report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged items.
• Ensure all tools and equipment meet quality and safety standards prior to issue.

Material Handling & Support

• Handle, package, and ship materials and equipment between locations as required.
• Order and track consumables and frequently used materials to support operations.
• Prepare calibration equipment for shipment and maintain associated certification documentation.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with company policies related to material handling and tool room operations.
• Safely operate pallet trucks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment (operator certification may be required).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool room environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in material control, warehouse, or related role.
• Basic knowledge of marine and/or industrial tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to learn and operate company-specific inventory and tracking software.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good eye/hand coordination and attention to detail.
• Ability to access all areas of the facility, including shipyards and vessels.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, climb, crouch, kneel, stoop, and lift.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling tools and materials.
• Ability to hear, speak, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to transit all areas of the facility and onboard vessels as required.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced warehouse and shipyard environments.
• Exposure to noise, industrial equipment, and various tools and materials.
• Requires strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
