Commercial Litigation Trial Associate

A leading international law firm is seeking a mid-level litigation associate with 6+ years of experience to join its Trial & Defense team in Los Angeles. The practice represents public and private entities in high-exposure litigation involving employment disputes, personal injury, commercial disputes and class actions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator to take on a substantial level of responsibility, manage their own caseload and gain significant hands‑on experience across all stages of litigation, including depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediation and trial. Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of approximately 10–20 matters. Investigate claims and develop effective case‑handling strategies. Draft and respond to discovery and oversee document production. Conduct legal research using Westlaw and apply findings to complex litigation matters. Take and defend depositions. Draft and file pleadings, motions and other litigation documents. Prepare for and attend hearings and argue motions. Draft pre‑trial and trial documents. Prepare matters for mediation and trial and participate in proceedings. Communicate regularly and effectively with clients regarding case strategy and developments. Develop positive and professional relationships with clients and opposing counsel. Qualifications: 6+ years of litigation experience. Admission to the California Bar. Substantial experience across all aspects of litigation. Experience taking and defending depositions, handling discovery and preparing and arguing motions. Strong experience with pre‑trial preparation and, ideally, mediation and trial. Excellent academic credentials from a reputable law school. Exceptional legal research, writing and communication skills. Strong oral advocacy and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters and deadlines effectively. Proactive, motivated, organized and commercially minded approach. Ability to identify issues and resolve problems efficiently. Competitive salary of $200,000–$240,000, depending on experience. Hybrid work flexibility, balancing remote and in‑office working.
