Coordinator of Music TechnologyThe Coordinator of Music Technology provides creative, instructional, and operational leadership for music technology activities within the Linda Berry Stein College of Art and Sciences. This position coordinates Dolphin Records, oversees use of the campus recording studio, teaches selected lower-level music technology courses, and supports student recording, production, and performance projects. The Coordinator of Music Technology works collaboratively with Fine Arts leadership to support student learning, creative production, studio access, course development, performance opportunities connected to music technology and the continued growth of music technology activity at Jacksonville University.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeach six credits per semester in selected lower-level music technology, recording, production, or related courses.Collaborate with Fine Arts leadership on course development, course scheduling, student learning outcomes, assessment, and music technology related planning.Coordinate studio policies, usage expectations, equipment inventory, and student access in collaboration with Fine Arts leadership.Coordinate Dolphin Records, including student participation, recording projects, production work, release planning, promotional activity, and one public performance or release event each semester.Oversee the use of the campus recording studio, including scheduling, access, student training, project coordination, and appropriate use of studio resources.Maintain studio equipment, software, and related resources in collaboration with Fine Arts leadership and the Dean's Office.Mentor and advise students involved in music technology activities as assigned and in conjunction with their academic advisor.Support students in writing, recording, producing, mixing, and presenting original or collaborative music projects.Train students in recording studio practices, live sound, sound design, and music production techniques.Support student recruitment and engagement in music technology opportunities when appropriate.Work collaboratively with colleagues in music, theater, dance, and related areas to support a strong and student-centered Fine Arts environment.Maintain a flexible schedule that may include occasional evening and weekend rehearsals, performances, recording sessions, auditions, and events.Participate in service to the School of Fine Arts and Humanities.Perform other related duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of recording studio practices, live sound, music production, mixing, and related technologies.Ability to teach lower-level courses in music technology, recording, production, or related areas.Ability to coordinate student recording, production, and performance projects.Ability to oversee recording studio use, scheduling, access, training, and project workflow.Ability to work effectively with undergraduate students with varied levels of preparation and experience.Ability to support live sound and sound design for performances and productions.Ability to manage multiple student projects, studio needs, and performance deadlines.Strong organizational and time management skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively.Demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching, mentorship, creative production, and applied learning.Ability to assess courses and student learning outcomes as required by the Institution.Required QualificationsGraduate degree in music technology, music production, recording arts, audio engineering, music, or a closely related field.Collegiate teaching experience.Experience working with students in recording, production, live sound, or music technology settings.Experience coordinating recording studio projects, equipment, software, or workflowPreferred QualificationsTerminal degree in a relevant field.Experience coordinating a student record label, recording collective, or similar student-centered creative initiative.Experience with live performance recording, sound design, theater sound, or live mixing.Professional experience in music production, recording, audio engineering, live sound, or related creative workSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. The Coordinator of Music Technology may coordinate the work of student assistants, studio users, collaborators, or other participants in consultation with Fine Arts leadership.Physical RequirementsAbility to operate a computer and other standard office equipment.Ability to operate, move, connect, and troubleshoot standard recording studio and live sound equipment as needed.Ability to communicate effectively in person and through virtual platforms.Ability to read written communications and computer display screens.Ability to participate in recording sessions, rehearsals, performances, and related events as needed.Important NoteThis is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.
