Lead Software Engineer Remote

Salary: $112,700 - 193,200 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• We require 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with ownership of complex, production-critical systems.

• We require hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native applications on Azure and/or AWS.
• We require experience building and consuming APIs, including REST, messaging, and integration layers for high-volume transaction processing.
• We require experience working on or integrating with pharmacy claims adjudication systems or similarly complex transaction platforms.
• We require proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, configuration, and runtime troubleshooting.
• We require experience participating in cross-team delivery efforts where schedule slippage creates operational, financial, or compliance risk.
• We require strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure SDLC practices.
• We require solid proficiency in Java and Spring/Spring Boot for enterprise-grade production services.
• We require experience implementing changes driven by external standards or regulatory mandates while preserving correctness, auditability, and stability.
• We require hands-on experience with AI prompt engineering for development, analysis, or automation use cases.
• We require experience developing or applying agentic AI solutions to automate engineering workflows or speed up delivery.
• We require working knowledge of AI harness engineering, including evaluation, regression, guardrails, and reliability considerations.
• We require the ability to integrate AI-assisted solutions responsibly into enterprise engineering environments.
• We require a strong production-ownership mindset, including troubleshooting complex issues, root-cause analysis, and preventative improvement.
• We require experience implementing observability practices such as logging, metrics, and alerts for mission-critical systems.
• We require commitment to secure coding, data protection, and privacy controls in healthcare technology.

• We lead the design and delivery of modernized adjudication services aligned to our roadmap and target architecture.
• We apply engineering best practices and sound architectural patterns to deliver safe, robust solutions.
• We build and enhance Java/Spring-based services and APIs that support adjudication modernization.
• We break legacy capabilities into modular, testable, independently deployable components where appropriate.
• We own end-to-end execution for assigned modernization features, from requirements clarification through production support.
• We partner with product, architecture, and downstream platform teams to ensure clean integration with existing claim processing flows.
• We implement observability, alerting, and SLO-driven engineering to strengthen reliability and operational readiness.
• We improve performance and scalability for claim transaction workflows, including latency, throughput, resiliency, and failure isolation.
• We create and maintain technical documentation such as designs, run-books, and support procedures.
• We perform impact assessments and gap analysis based on reverse engineering efforts.
• We coordinate across teams on delivery schedules, dependencies, and integration testing, including work with partners and vendors as needed.
• We provide technical input for stakeholder communications, covering engineering impact, release readiness, constraints, risks, and mitigations.
• We design, build, and run cloud-native services on Azure and/or AWS using appropriate managed services and reliability patterns.
• We package and deploy applications with Docker and Kubernetes, applying secure configuration, resource tuning, and rollout strategies.
• We build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, security scanning, and deployment.
• We improve infrastructure and deployment automation to reduce manual effort and increase repeatability.
• We adopt and promote AI solutions in our daily development workflow.
• We design AI agents to automate and accelerate engineering and analysis tasks such as code conversion, documentation, testing, and migration support.
• We apply prompt engineering and agentic AI patterns to build reliable, task-focused assistants with measurable results.
• We champion AI adoption within the team and mentor peers on effective use of AI to accelerate delivery.
• We build and maintain AI harness capabilities, including evaluation harnesses, regression suites, guardrails, and telemetry.
• We integrate AI tooling into developer workflows, including CI hooks, pull request checks, knowledge retrieval, and standardized templates.
• We establish operational controls for AI-enabled automation, including access, logging, validation, fail-safes, and human-in-the-loop oversight where needed.
• We champion engineering excellence through clean code, design reviews, automated testing, and secure-by-design implementation.
• We diagnose and resolve complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive fixes.
• We ensure compliance with internal security, privacy, and SDLC controls, including secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and dependency hygiene.
• We provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, remove delivery blockers, and help raise the quality bar.
• We collaborate across product, operations, architecture, and partner teams to deliver outcomes on schedule.
• We communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly, and escalate with mitigation options when needed.
