Job Summary
The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for the position of Sheriff's Mental Health Case Management Clinician This position is eligible for appointment at step 1, $83,824.00 annually . County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5. Future Salary Increases ** June 26, 2026 - 4.67% increase to base pay (3.50% Across-the-Board + 1.17% Market Increase) ** June 25, 2027 - 4.17% increase to base pay(3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.17% Market Increase)
The following additional pay incentives and premiums are available ** Up to one hundred dollars ($100) off of the full purchase price for public transportation to travel to and from work
(San Diego Metropolitan Transit System pass, North County Transit District pass, Transit Pass Program ** $300 monthly allowance for parking expenses at certain County of San Diego work locations ** $200 monthly allowance for employees who participate in the County Ride Sharing Program through SANDAG for certain work locations ** Reimbursement for the cost of renewing license or certification (must work at least 80 hours biweekly)
About the Position Under direction, to provide case management services to clients who are diagnosed with mental illnesses; and to perform related work as required.
Sheriff's Detentions, Mental Health Case Management Clinician is a journey level class in the Sheriff's Detentions, Mental Health Clinician series. This is an unlicensed professional social worker class responsible for providing case management services to clients in custody convicted of crimes confined in a Sheriff's detention facility. Positions in this class are allocated to the San Diego Sheriff's Office. Positions are located at various facilities within the Sheriff's Detention network.

Ideal Candidate
The department desires a candidate that can communicate effectively, is eager to learn, and willing to work in a correctional facility environment. Pre-licensing and close to 3,000 work hours completed is ideal.

Condition of Employment
As part of the County of San Diego's pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. - A Master's degree from an accredited graduate school, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field AND
- Active registration with the California Department of Consumers Affairs, Board of Behavioral Science in one of the following: Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC).
